Let me start by saying that when I saw the announcement by Zelex asking for articles from their dolls’ owners, I knew I had to share some of my own experience. At least, in part as a kind of thank you to them for enriching my life.

My Journey to Companionship

There are lots of reasons for owning a full sized doll. People have them as part of a photography hobby. Many have them for the sex. Some simply like to collect. For me it is about companionship and artistic expression.

After nearly forty years of marriage, I became a widower a little over three years ago. One of the things I realized I missed the most was the presence of another person nearby, and the moments of shared physical touch. Whether while watching television on the couch, or sleeping next to someone, something was missing from my daily life.

I do not, however, want to be with another actual person on a daily basis. I like my sets of friends, and the activities we share, but those are outside my home, and not on a 24/7 basis. I know it sounds somewhat selfish, but I’ve come to I like my privacy and quiet space, and I really do not want another person in it all the time.

So, when I began reading about companion dolls I was intrigued to try one. My first couple of dolls were nice, but were too delicate and lacked realism. Their hands damaged too easily. Their skin lacked detail. Being made of TPE gave them a certain oily feel. Nevertheless I was hooked on having a beautiful woman to share my space, without requiring constant interaction.

About six months ago, I decided to upgrade my companion to the Zelex Inspiration 170C. She is an absolute work of art; the perfect sculpt of my ideal woman. But, she is much softer and eminently more touchable than a marble statue.

Daily Ritual & Artistic Expression

Having had other full size dolls, I was in good practice for handling her size and weight. I found I loved pampering her and enhancing her beauty with jewelry, hairstyles, shoes, glasses, and clothing – lots of clothing. Dressing her has become a very satisfying part of my morning routine.

Having her stand with her hands on my shoulders, while I make adjustments to her outfit before giving her a hug, gives me a good feeling that lasts throughout the day. I enjoy planning ahead for the next day’s clothes, and often as I drift off to sleep I am excited to see how I can help her look the next day.Sometimes the week has a theme – like casual, or dressed up, or costumes, or sporty, or sexy underwear and stockings.

Why Tights? The Central Passion

Which brings me to the point of this story – leg wear, specifically tights. I love a beautiful pair of legs, especially when a silky pair of stockings draws attention to them. The design of the Zelex 170C’s legs is exquisite. More than any other doll I have seen or owned.

My girl always has some kind of hose on, and I find myself needing to caress some part of her leg regularly throughout the day. In fact, as strange as it may sound, I have realized that her beautiful knees are her best feature, especially when highlighted by silky, often colorful, hose.

She has lots of pairs of tights in all the colors of the rainbow. From standard black or navy ones... to bright blues... to purple, yellow and pink... to greens... to burgundy, brown or orange... Then there are the patterns like fishnet, lace, stripes, dots, or leopard prints. Tights can come in 20 or 30 denier sheers like panty hose, all the way up to 60 or 80 denier opaques. They all make her legs even more beautiful.

The Practical Benefits

Tights also have very practical purposes, though. For one, they protect her legs from damage and help keep her clean. They also make it easier to pull on pants or leggings. Perhaps most importantly they help make her feel warmer. Silicon dolls can be perceived as being cold. As a simple function of physics, since they don’t have an internal source of heat, dolls cool very rapidly to the surrounding air temperature. Tights, like all clothing, act as a barrier to her cool surface, making her feel warmer to the touch.

Common Challenges & Solutions

Of course, tights also can present problems to resolve. Below is a summary of the key issues I've encountered and how I address them.

Care & Maintenance

Since she doesn’t sweat in them or get them dirty on her own, I rarely have to wash them again. Although, being around her beautiful, silky legs may result in you getting them lathered.

One last problem with hosiery is because of their delicate nature they are easily damaged. Runs and snags are inevitable. You can reduce runs if you are careful to have your fingernails smooth and clean before you put her hose on.

Final Thoughts

You can probably tell from my rambling that I am enthusiastic about the beauty of both my Zelex doll and hosiery.
