Doll Focused Bed Making and Bed Hair Care
Discover the easy way to set up your doll's bed to dramatically reduce hair tangling, breakage, and skin or paint wear. Use microfiber sheets, satin pillowcases, and simple ponytail styling tips—ideal for silicone or sub-silicone dolls!
Reducing paint wear and tear as well as tangling/hair breakage in a bed is best achieved by using a microfiber surface for the doll skin, and a "satin" type material under the hair (fig. 1). You can buy a microfiber fitted sheet, or if you can place a microfiber blanket (such as those commonly included with the dolls) under the doll. Using a cotton sheet/bath towel and/or pillowcase will increase wear and tear greatly on the doll, and contribute to hair tangling (fig. 2). A microfiber blanket should also be used between any non microfiber cover placed over the doll (fig. 3).
To further reduce a large source of tangling on wigs and especially implanted hair, basic hair styling should be applied. In my case, I chose a simple ponytail (fig. 4). This does not introduce additional tangling that may be caused by braiding, etc. The hair should not be allowed to fall underneath the doll's back (fig 5). This will allow the movement of the doll to tangle and break off the hair under the weight of the doll. This is exacerbated by the fact that hair has a tendency to stick to the doll's skin.
